The Little Black Dress changed my life; let it change yours, too.

I would hate for this to come off as the epitome of girly articles, but the Little Black Dress (LBD) holds a very special place in my heart and it should in yours, too.  Being a girl, I am partial to dresses, not only because they make me feel pretty but, more importantly, because I am quite impartial to pants that are not Norts. My closet is filled with all kinds of dresses, from maxi dresses and sundresses to formal dresses, I have them all, but if you look closely, you'll notice a black hole in my closet.

The amount of black dresses I have is a bit excessive. They sit there all beautifully clumped together on their hangers in my not-so-spacious bedroom closet. I can't pinpoint exactly when my obsession started, but I quickly grew fond of the LBD. This item of clothing is such a staple in my wardrobe for many reasons and I would be happy to share them with you. Hopefully I'll inspire you to start your own collection.

First, the LBD is a classic. In my opinion, you always look much more put together in a black dress. Whether it's a nice scalloped shift like this one (but in black of course,) or a simple black sundress, you're sure to look like you didn't just roll out of bed.

Secondly, the LBD is flattering, for the most part, on anyone. We all know the Freshman 15 is a real thing along with the Sophomore 30, and maybe even Junior 50 (yikes!), but luckily you're sure to look like you're fresh out of the gym in your LBD.

My last selling point for the LBD, is that it is so simple in every sense of the word. If you don't feel like wearing pants to class (which I'm always guilty of) just throw on your favorite comfy black dress and go; add a necklace to dress it up a bit for a night out. Honestly, the Little Black Dress is a necessity in every girl's closest, so go get shopping!

Don't take these friends for granted because they all add a little something to your life, and if you can't name all of them to your personal friends, chances are it might be you...

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

“I just want you to know that you’re very special… and the only reason I’m telling you is that I don’t know if anyone else ever has.”

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
