ASMR, if you haven't heard of it, stands for autonomous sensory meridian response, which is just a fancy way of saying a pleasantly tingly feeling that one gets from certain sounds. For many people, those certain sounds are things like whispering, crunching, paper crinkling, fire crackling, etc. (search AMSR on youtube for more examples, if you're curious). But for those of us who don't feel the tingling sensation from the sounds (case in point: me), maybe we can get them from a description of sounds. AMSR or no ASMR, enjoy this list of wonderful sounds.

1. High heels on the stone floor of a big, empty church

2. Big logs crackling in a real wood fireplace (bonus points if the sap in the logs is popping)

3. A tall, sturdy wooden door closing in an echoey hall

4. The creaky binding of an ancient book that hasn't been open in a while

5. The click of turning of an old chain-pull one bulb light

6. Cats purring (bonus points if they're sitting on you so you can feel the purr, too)

7. The soft 'crick' sounds of cracking your back when you first wake up

8. Steady rain on a rooftop or window (bonus points if you're falling asleep or just don't have to go out and get soaked)

9. Clicking of dog nails on a tile floor

10. The revving sound of a car engine when you floor the gas pedal

11. An old rotary phone ringing

12. The sound a snowball makes when it hits someone

13. A cricket symphony on a summer's night

14. The canvas of a sailboat flapping in the breeze

15. A leaky faucet dripping

16. Wind howling through evergreen trees during a blizzard

17. The sounds of ocean waves (bonus points if you wake up hearing them muffled through closed windows)

18. Opening a new champagne bottle

19. Dropping something cold and greasy onto a hot pan

20. The particular all-encompassing silence of snowfall

21. Biting into a fresh apple/carrot/celery/pear/ear of corn/etc.

22. The squelching sound of pulling a boot out of a mud puddle or stirring gooey pasta

23. The old lock screen click sound on an iPhone (the new one just isn't as satisfying)

24. Vacuuming over a patch over carpet with a ton of crumbs on it

25. Stopping short on ice skates or skis so you send up a spray of ice/snow

26. Ice cubes clinking in a glass cup

27. A typewriter or a old-fashioned separate-from-the-computer-monitor keyboard clicking

28. Stomping through thin ice to hear it crack

29. The soft breathing of a sleeping person close to you

30. The clang of metal-on-metal (think sword fighting, not that we hear that much these days)

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

CSU

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
