We all do it. It's only human nature and no matter how embarrassing the song, we all listen to music. We are so blessed in life to have music and be able to hold a whole collection of our favorites in the palm of our hands. Whether it's blasting through the speakers in your room or in the car, or private jam session with headphones, we all go on a trip with our music that makes us fall even more in love with it.

First, making the decision between going public with your taste in music, fearlessly grab the aux, or playing it safe with a party of one with some headphones.

This is how you're musical journey will be played and enjoyed, you need to chose carefully. If you go speaker you have a louder and liberating experience of not only freeing you from silence but freeing your music for the world to hear. But if you're looking to just chill, block out the world and relax, grab some headphones.

Next, You have to pick the first song!

This is a big decision, huge even, this is going to set the tone and mood for the rest of your playlist. Picking the right first song can make all the difference in your day, maybe even your life! A song can bring back a million memories with the first notes, and finding picking the right song can be a minefield. Scrolling through your music, an array of emotions pass through you seeing the songs. Nostalgia, happiness, melancholy, confusion, and maybe the urge to dance a little.

Then when all seems lost, the perfect song appears!

Like a light at the end of the tunnel, it appears and it's everything you needed. The perfect song; above all other songs, this is the song you must play first. From the moment it starts you're totally in love and ready to jam out for a while.

Then the music starts, and so do you.

The music is in you, dancing through your veins, and then you feel it. It's unexplainable, but suddenly you're swaying to the rhythm. You're possessed by the beat, and can't help but dance. The first verse captures your heart, and the second keeps you coming back as you wait in anticipation for the chorus to begin.

This is what you were waiting for. This is why you played the song. This is your time to shine.

The chorus comes and you give it your all; belting out the words with the artist, and you start riffing like the pop star you really are. You're singing all the harmonies at once because you wouldn't ask a mother to pick her favorite child. Third verse comes, and you're ready for round two.

But you forgot in the second chorus there's a key change...

Cue the goosebumps and involuntary chill. Doesn't matter how many times you've heard the song, it hits you just as hard as the first every. Single. Time. Your heart tightens for a moment; some foreign emotion explodes, shoving against the walls till it can't go any further. Pulling yourself back together, you finish out the song, getting ready for whatever shuffle has next for you.

Now you're no longer just listening to music, you're performing.

The music has full control, you give in to your inner entertainer, and start giving the performance of your life. Song after song, you sing every word, hit each unchoreographed step to perfection, and you lose yourself in it all.

Then suddenly the music stops!

A deafening silence hits you, the music is gone and your will to live with it. As if it were the only thing keeping you alive, you slip into a frenzy. Searching for it anywhere and everywhere, you sheepishly realize amidst all your singing and dancing you hit 'pause' by accident. Oops...

Press play and resume slaying

Revived by the melody, you flawlessly pick up where you left off. Music has such an overwhelming power, it manages to reach in and touch our hearts when we aren't looking, making you fall in love. It is one of the most unique expressions of art, one of the most unique expressions of life.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
