The world was blessed a few days ago when Ed Sheeran decided to give us a new album after years of waiting for new music. To say that this album is the best album I've ever heard is an understatement.
While we all knew that Ed is already a musical genius, there's something about this album that just struck me in a way no other album has. Divide tells a different and unique story on each track with almost every song having it's own individual sound. Not many artists can pull it off but I think we've all learned by now that Ed is capable of anything.
One of my favorite things about this record is how he incorporates different cultures into it. With tracks like "Barcelona," "Bibia Be Ye Ye," and "Nancy Mulligan," you're able to get a different feel from each track. From hard core scotish vibes, to hawaiian feels - it's sure to get you in the mood to dance to a song outside of the typical American sound vibe.
Other songs on the album are very detailed with a story - some more serious than others. "New Man," "What Do I Know?" and "Castle on the Hill" are more of the fun upbeat ones - along with previously mentioned "Nancy Mulligan." However, I think the one story-telling song that seriously kills me is "Supermarket Flowers." If you've ever lost a loved one, that's going to hit you hard. Have tissues in hand.
And of course, Ed didn't forget to deliver those hard-hitting emotional songs that rip your heart out of your chest and put it back together again. "How Would You Feel (Piano)," "Perfect," "Save Myself" and "Dive" are seriously putting me deeper into my feels than I was prepared to be. Even his song "Happier" makes me miss the sh*t out of my boyfriend AND WE'RE ALREADY BACK TOGETHER.
This record is perfect for when you need a feel good tune or you just need to get into your feels. While there's still a few songs I didn't mention, the 16 track album is sure to win all the awards next year. If it doesn't win a Grammy, I'm going to lose my mind.
Thank you Ed, for another incredible album. Now, when's the tour?
