Stop What You're Doing, And Listen To Billie Eilish's New Album

In case you aren't caught up on new music entering the world, Billie Eilish's album, "WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?" just recently dropped on March 29. Now, if you're a fan of Billie Eilish, (like myself) you probably have already listened to the whole album a hundred times. However, if you haven't yet, now is your time.

For those of you that might not be familiar with Billie Eilish, she is an American singer and songwriter. Her music falls under the alternative genre, and she is most known from her song, "Ocean Eyes". At only 17 years old, she has released an EP, wrote songs for Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" and "Roma", collaborated with Khalid, and now, released her debut album.

"WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?" is an album you must listen to in order, and all at once. The listening experience is truly enhanced when you start at track one, "!!!!!!!" and end on track 14, "goodbye".

It is also important that you listen to Billie's album with headphones. There are various sounds throughout her songs that you don't realize when playing it out loud. When you listen with headphones, you hear all the little details and sounds you may otherwise miss.

This album is special to me because the music Billie puts out is so different from other music. She has a balance of upbeat and slower songs. I typically prefer pop music that is fast and upbeat, but I actually enjoy Billie's slower songs. It is in these songs that her vocals shine the most.

There are 14 tracks on this album, and I want to shoutout some of my favorites. Before I mention my favorites songs, I want to say that I truly enjoy listening to every one of Billie's tracks. After multiple listens of the full album, I have developed a love for each song.

When I first heard the beat of "bad guy", I immediately fell in love with it. This song is very bass-heavy and fits my style of upbeat songs. This song follows her intro clip, "!!!!!!!" and opens the album with high expectations for the rest of the tracks.

The next song I absolutely love is "when the party's over". This song was first released as a single on October 17, 2018, and is now song number seven on her album. This is one of the slower tracks where her voice truly makes the song. It is beautiful and has a stripped down sound so you can really appreciate her voice.

"my strange addiction" is a song for all "The Office" fans out there. This track features multiple audio clips from episode 17 of season seven of "The Office", which is when Michael shows his movie, "Threat Level: Midnight" to his coworkers. This song follows a faster tempo and is made for everybody that has a "strange addiction" to Steve Carrell.

I have to mention "ilomilo" because this song sounds amazing when you have headphones in. You can hear all the little sounds and vocal effects that make for a track that you've never heard before. The lyrics focus on the fear of separation which was inspired by the story of the puzzle game called "ilomilo". I also love that the end of the song "bury a friend" leads into this computer game sounding track.

Last, but definitely not least, is "i love you". This is the longest song on the album, but I can promise it is a must-listen. If this song doesn't hit your emotions, you're not listening to it correctly. The soft acoustic sound makes for a very calming track that will leave you in awe of Billie's voice and songwriting skills.

If you're not fully convinced yet, I recommend watching my friend, Hunter, listen to Billie's new album. He made a YouTube video on his first reactions to each track and gives some of his favorite songs as well.

This album is already one of my favorite releases of 2019, and I highly recommend you listen to it (you can thank me later).

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
