If you are any bit of an old soul like me, you have probably lost major faith in both of the R&B and rap genres since the 2000s. The seemingly endless outpouring of trap, meaningless lyrics, and Lil Uzi-esque "punk rap" has drowned out many of the uprising artists that are creating quality music while still providing a fresh take on their genres. While 21 Savage, Migos, and Young Thug may be popular and great for parties, some of us cannot listen to them 24/7. If you are looking for an artist you can bump to any time of day and will give you faith back in modern music, look no further.

While Anderson .Paak technically made his mark on the mainstream grid through an appearance in the 2016 XXL Freshman Cypher, I wholeheartedly believe that he is the most underrated artist featured in the video. .Paak is the perfect combination of R&B, hip hop, and undeniable musical talent. From NPR Music's Tiny Desk concert to opening for J. Cole's summer tour, each show .Paak does is high energy as he seamlessly transitions between singing and rapping while simultaneously being his own drummer.

Through his latest 2016 Malibu that was nominated for two Grammys, .Paak gifts the world with a play-through album that gives you all of the southern Californian vibes without ever having to leave the comfort of your home or car. Whether you are dancing with your friends to "Come Down", chilling to "Room in Here", or even getting emotional to "Put Me Thru", Malibu is the perfect album for any mood.

Thank you, to Anderson .Paak for sticking to your roots and being an individual in an era of music that vastly sounds like similar versions of indistinct mumbling. We true music lovers appreciate you endlessly.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
