Halloween is just around the corner, my friends! Don't miss out on all of the fun the final week of October has to offer. So prepare yourself for the last outdoor fun you won't regret (as winter is coming soon) and check these things off your to-do list.
1. Stay away from the clowns. All clowns.
Don't take candy from clowns, folks! In all seriousness, it is sad that I must say "the clowns" instead of just clowns because they are not just a basic Halloween costume anymore. They are plagued with an unfriendly ideology now, so as the celebrated day advances be cautious and tread lightly (or not so lightly in the opposite direction).
2. Watch the best Halloween movies you grew up with (and the new ones I suggest).
After all, Halloween is the perfect excuse to summon your inner child and not feel a shred of guilt.
If you are a closet witch, I suggest "Practical Magic."
If you love to love the bad guys, I suggest "Hocus Pocus" (also if you are a closet witch).
If you just can't ever get enough of them, "The Addams Family."
And so on, because I guarantee you that any Halloween movie made in the 90's is worth the re-watch. - biased from a 90's baby
On a modern note, I myself plan on watching "Boo! A Madea Halloween" because Madea can do no wrong. Speaking of which, I would feel much safer having her control the clown population this Halloween.
3. Go out and find yourself an original costume!
Emphasis on the original! Also, make sure that you are covering at least 75% of your body. We have all heard the "Halloween is just another excuse for girls to dress like (place the derogatory name here)". Don't be like Sarah Jessica Parker. Guys, I am talking to you too. Wearing a cape and whitey-tighties with a big "S" on it does not make you Superman and also no one wants to see that. Unless you are Channing Tatum, then yes, yes we all want to see that.
Lastly, don't be that poor soul that thinks it's super funny to dress as a clown to the party. No one thinks you are funny.
4. Get out and enjoy the last of the Fall colors (while drinking wine, of course).
Drink some wine and go to the pumpkin patch even though you have already been there every consecutive fall since you were born. You can never get enough pumpkins and candy apples, I promise. Or go to an apple orchard and have a picnic. Make sure to pack the wine. Lastly, and my personal favorite, go to a wine vineyard! You get the best of both worlds; the blessings of fall scenery and the blessing of a great glass of wine (or bottle). No one will even judge you for drinking during the day on a Monday because in the photos you post you will hardly tell the difference between the vineyard and either of the above locations. It's a win-win. Anyways, wine just tastes better in the fall.
5. Do everything Halloween and Fall like as you can.
Go to haunted houses, corn mazes and take a hay bail ride. Keep your windows open and let the cool breeze in. Wear your long socks and boots. Make soup, lots of it! Order everything Pumpkin, because it won't last. Take pictures of the trees and selfies, I know it seems "basic" and everyone does it. However, Wisconsin is known and famous for it's beautiful season of Fall! Embrace it.
Whatever you do, just get outdoors and enjoy it. October is truly one of Wisconsin's most beautiful times of the year and only to be made more enjoyable by Halloween. As October can somewhat promise you that it will not bring snow, November most certainly cannot. As all good things come to an end, make the best of it. So get fat on caramel apples and spike the witches blood, fruit punch.
Cheers, friends!
