I'm sure around this time of year, there will be plenty of "Top (whatever) Christmas Movies". To be honest with you, I really hate most Christmas movies. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas. Decorating, baking, giving presents, spending time with family - I'm all about that. But when it comes to the things other typically enjoy, like Christmas jingles and "Elf", I'm not really about that life. However, there are a few Christmas movies that I do enjoy watching every year. Here is my list of Christmas movies:
1. "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
"The Nightmare Before Christmas" is probably the most conventional unconventional Christmas movie, but as a lover of all things Tim Burton – "The Nightmare Before Christmas" must be at the top of my list. Not only are the graphics in this movie absolutely fantastic, but the soundtrack is creepy and upbeat, basically the kind of Christmas music I need in my life.
2. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
Next, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". I’m okay with both versions, but the live action one with Jim Carey is my favorite. The animated version is definitely best for kids; however, the live action version is the best for some hidden adult jokes that you probably didn’t catch when you were a kid.
3. "The Night Before"
Speaking of adult comedies, "The Night Before" is a hilarious, M-rated comedy starring Seth Rogan and Joseph Gordan Levitt. If you’ve seen any Seth Rogan movie, you know there’s a lot of drunken debaucheries and raunchy humor that makes for a Christmas movie fit for me.
4. "The Polar Express"
Finally, "The Polar Express". I think this wonderful movie is on most Christmas movie lists, so it probably isn’t unconventional. Still, this is probably the one ‘normal’ Christmas movie that I enjoy. How couldn’t you? The animation in this movie is beautiful, and very realistic. As well, it’s an adventure story, not just some boring Christmas movie.
