Lisa Frank was best known during the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. There was always at least one little girl with a bright and colorful Lisa Frank folder, among all of the other merchandise branded with the signature Lisa Frank style of rainbows and animals. Unfortunately, Lisa Frank products are no longer sold in stores, however, the name has been kept alive via Facebook. I never would have thought that as an 18-year-old college student Lisa Frank's artwork could relate to me on such a spiritual level. Lisa Frank clearly understands what we're all going through and she uses an extremely vibrant way to communicate it.

1. Coffee runs through your veins when you have a paper, three exams and a group project to work on.

Seriously, it's best not to mess with me until I'm fully immersed in caffeine and Lisa Frank understands that.

2. It's safe to say that it's easier to grab some fries than it is to hit the gym.

Fries do make everything better.

3. There is a real importance to have quality pick-up lines on college campuses.

Lisa Frank is here to help you land a date.

4. If the pick-up lines don't work, always remember this advice:

Once again, fries make everything better.

5. The excitement you feel for the upcoming weekend.

Same, Lisa, same.

6. The college party scene on those weekends is very important.

Nothing communicates that feeling better than rainbow koalas.

7. And then there are the weekends where you just want to sleep.

Not everyone can be a party animal every weekend, there are important naps to take.

8. During the weekend, 2 a.m. food runs and consumption of ice cream might happen.

There is nothing wrong with a little extra calorie intake Friday-Sunday.

9. After the weekend, Monday approaches and you're left wondering what happened.

Weekends seriously do go by too fast.

10. Lisa Frank understands the Monday blues.

This is basically a description of every college student on Monday morning.

11. Sometimes wearing normal clothes to an 8 a.m. class is just not an option.

12. At the end of the day, your friends are the people who will make everything seem a little bit brighter.

Nothing cheers up a gloomy week quite like spending time with your favorite people.

13. And when you're missing your family or friends at home just remember:

Even though your friends at family back home can't be right next to you, that doesn't mean that they aren't still there!

13. We all need some extra motivation sometimes.

Never say no to working on improving or to an extra slice of pizza.

Lisa Frank really is an expert motivator.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

1. People assume you are mad all of the time.

2. Ten out of ten times you will give off an intimidating impression to others.

3. People do not acknowledge your feelings because you "do not have any."

4. Constantly being exhausted from trying to smile and not look like a witch.

5. And on the rare occasion your facial expressions show how happy you are, your friends think you are going crazy.

6. Each of your friends has said "I thought you were so mean when I first met you" at some point.

7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.

9. And when you are actually mad, your facial expressions are horrifying.

10. In the end you always look like you are judging people, when in reality people are ALWAYS judging you.

This week, my parents went on vacation and left me with the responsibility of watching the house and the dog. Easy, right? Feed the dog, don’t burn the house down, do whatever you want within reason. I’m not the type to throw wild parties or have a parade of hookups, and my parents know this. The most I do is bring my laptop into the family room and refuse to use headphones.
