Twitter is certainly a website full of colorful characters and accounts that range from "Hamilton as Mike" to Evan Edinger. Some accounts provide pictures of cute baby animals and even popular news sites have their own Twitter accounts to promote stories. However, in my six plus years of using the website, I have come to find that there are only two accounts that I actually want to receive notifications from every time they tweet.
The first one is Pope Francis (both his English and Spanish accounts), but I can understand why his tweets might not be everyone's cup of tea. However, if you're not religious but are still interested in reading some motivational tweets to help get you through the day, then allow me to suggest giving Mr. Lin-Manuel Miranda's twitter a follow!
Not only is Mr. Miranda the creator of both musicals, "In the Heights" and "Hamilton", but he also composes some wonderfully optimistic and heartwarming tweets that consistently lift my spirits when I'm having a particularly rough day. Here are a few of my absolute favorites!
1. Getting some rest
2. Wishing you a good morning
3. Reminding you to keep your wits about you
4. Contemplating some coffee
5. Reminding you of self-care
6. Giving you a little smooch
7. Reminding you to take a deep breath
8. Casting you in your perfect role
9. Keepin' it fresh
10. Making you smile more
11. Asking you to rest
12. Wishing you a beautiful night
13. Trying to find the words to describe you
14. Just saying hi
15. Reminding you that "this too shall pass"
16. Preparing you for a busy day
17. Wishing you some sweet dreams
18. Having some morning coffee with you
19. Telling you that you look cute, go get 'em!
In truth, I know it may seem a bit silly that I find so much enjoyment in these tweets. Some of them are a bit dorky but to be honest, it's kind of nice knowing that there's someone out there, a celebrity no less, that is genuinely concerned with the livelihood and happiness of others.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is one of those rare souls that doesn't seem to give a damn that he can't possibly meet every single person on the planet personally and give them a hug. I'm sure he would if he physically could, but until then, he intentionally crafts out some lovely tweets to send out to his followers in the hopes of brightening their day just a little bit more.
He wants to encourage his audience to live their best lives, even when it all seems hopeless (I personally turned to a lot of his tweets when the results of the 2016 Presidential election were released.) In a sea of toxic social media, Lin is a rare fish that swims in positivity and promotes good feels.
