In early January, Lilly Pulitzer announced its first-ever collaboration with Target. This past Sunday, April 19, the chic retailer's product line finally hit Target. The collection includes 15 exclusive prints and 250 pieces across multiple platforms, from women's clothing to home decor.
But before all of you Lilly fans start cruising to Target, it looks like virtually everything is sold out and is not going to be replenished, according to Joshua Thomas, Target's spokesperson . He noted that the Lilly Pulitzer collection is limited addition and only available while supplies last. Turns out, supplies did not last very long. Target's inability to keep up with high customer demand left many people upse
"For the past few months I have been anxiously awaiting the chance to check out Lilly Pulitzer's exclusive line. So it was pretty dissapointing to find nothing in-stock when that big day finally came," said Ann Molina, a junior at the University of Missouri. Many other's went to Twitter and other social media to express similar sentiments. According to Mashable.com, thanks to all of the online complaints regarding the Lilly Pulitzer collaboration, the line has become Target's most buzzed-about launch on social media. Countless of these frustrated tweets were also about the amount of the exclusive Pulitzer items bought and resold on Ebay for higher prices. "To the people who bought out all the #LillyforTarget stuff and put it on @eBay -- there's a special place in hell for you," Emily Severeid tweeted.
While many people left Target empty handed, there were customers who left Target content. "I didn't get everything on my #LillyforTarget wish list, but waking up this morning I'm feeling pretty triumphant I got anything at all," @byCindClark tweeted.
For all of the people who were lucky enough to snag some of these limited edition items, congrats. For the rest of you, all I can say is better luck next time (or try checking out eBay).
