So, I've been thinking about "Mainstream" popularity; be it music, anime, tv shows, movies, games, whatever. There seems to somehow be this stigma of if something is mainstream we must hate it and trash those that do like the mainstream items! I mean, how dare they like something that became popular because so many people like it! Um, but that really doesn't make that much sense.. does it? Things become mainstream because they are so popular among many crowds of people. Twenty One Pilots, Attack on Titan, Supernatural, Pokemon, Call of Duty; these are all considered to be mainstream in their respective categories and that's okay.
It really seems like people only want you to like obscure things so that it helps fit their weird sense of morality by liking something that not a large number of people have heard of. Because honestly, the more people like something, the more of that thing gets made or produced so you can enjoy more of it. It's a really wonderful thing when you can find a large number of people that really enjoy the thing that you're into. Let's not fully worry about what is "mainstream" or not, and just like things because we genuinely like them. After all, the only thing that really matters is that we are enjoying our time that we spend with these things, right?
