Have you ever thought about moments you had when you were a kid?
Like the time you jumped off the slide because you believed that you were able to fly like Superman?
Or those moments of peace and comfort knowing your stuffed animal was sleeping next to you? Or the little things like being excited to have Mom’s peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the crust cut off?
These moments seem to have faded over time but what we don’t realize is that we all have the ability to return to those moments. We sometimes feel the urge to do certain things that flash us back to when we were younger and in doing so allowing our subconscious to send us back through time. We remember the good. We remember when life was easy. When there were no worries, no fears except for those that were figments of our imagination. Troubles that would disappear at the sound of ice cream trucks, raindrops or Mom’s voice reminding you that it’s only in your imagination.
Funny.
Wouldn’t that be incredible if that were real? If we were able to make our fears and problems in our world disappear…
I can remember a time when I was young and my Mom would make me a sandwich with the crust cut off. I remember the table, the room and even the texture of that sandwich all because it brings me back to a time when my problems didn’t exist. My only worry was my sandwich and finishing in time to go back out and play. Nothing bad could happen. Nothing bad ever did and I’ll remember little moments like this because of how precious they were to me.
As a child, we experienced events in our life that took us from young to growing. We learned that people were not always kind and that the world was not as special as our cartoons depicted. We believed that magic came from the tips of our fingers and the channels in our mind until one day, the magic stopped. We grew up. Suddenly, you begin to forget about Mom’s sandwich and the feeling it gave you because the world you once saw it, vanished.
And here you are.
Alive and well.
Living today a day at a time realizing how precious life is as you take a bite of your sandwich.
