Like a bird, I travel farther in groups. Flocks represent families and communities. My sense of community has been often tested in political discussions. In order to move forward, we learn to compromise and test for the right direction. To be a leader, you have to be the tip of a flying V. For now, you earn it by following through the flock first.
Like a bird, someone raises a family to become a leader. A mother keeps her eggs warm until they hatch. She keeps providing the warmth and protection until her babies leave the nest. In other words, you should always thank your parents for allowing you to leave their nest.
Like a bird, I treasure my independence. By the time that I'm out of my nest, I can feed myself and explore. Pigeons may have the bad rep for leaving "petty messes" on city streets and cars, but it's because they care more about getting from one place to another.
Like a bird, I may prefer being alone at times. I hide away from the cold wind while along the stone wall. Then, I wonder if there is more towards the horizon of Lake Superior. Flying south for warmth would've been the best choice.
Like a bird, I blend in the surroundings of the fall. I've played high school football to blend in my peers. I've dressed in blaze orange to blend in with my hunting family, which it considers me to be the ugly duckling who doesn't hunt. I rather take pictures of nature and decide whether or not to make them into paintings. A grouse came onto a gravel road in mid-October. It was alone as I was approaching it with a camera.
Like a bird, I eat very little at times of survival. It's not only because of a metabolism, I ate very little during my most recent slopes of depression. After reading about all of the recent protests and Trump's inhumane changes of this country, I had a few days of one fully-balanced meal each day. Instead of having a political opinion, I wish I could just fly away from this dividing country.
Like a bird, I fly over people's heads. I prefer to be a creative-thinking comedian than a critical-thinking politician, and that's the main reason why I don't write about politics. I don't support Trump. So, I'll just ignore him like how atheists ignore the Pope.
Like a bird, I'm a listener. I'm aware of my surroundings, but I remain calm. I support feminists, refugees, indigenous people building strong communities, and local artists creating LGBT safe places.
Like a bird, I will listen for others calling out for me. I don't judge. I just seek out to others pointing me to the right direction.
