Experience The True Meaning Of Christmas At La Sallete
Emma Field

The Lights of La Sallete at the Shrine of La Sallete in Attleboro, Massachusetts are a sight to see around the holidays. As you pull into the church parking lot, hundreds of twinkling lights bring out your inner child. Absolutely every tree is decorated and there are many different sights to see. One side of the property demonstrates the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There are winding staircases that lead you up hills to different statues of people within the Roman Catholic religion. They are accompanied by all different colors of Christmas lights and dozens of onlookers.

As you walk along the other side of the property, you'll pass billboards from A to Z describing a certain holy word that corresponds to the letter. There is a poem or excerpt that follows the letter and provides better insight into why each particular word is chosen. It leads you all the way around a pond and back to where you started. From there, you can purchase hot chocolate, apple cider, and even buy a light-up La Salette mug to sip from!

When you've seen the sights and the cold becomes unbearable, there is a gift shop full of religious knick-knacks from Rosary beads to holy water. In a room close by to the gift shop, there are dozens of different Nativity scenes from all around the world. There you will find how different cultures perceive the birth of Christ.

I would absolutely recommend a trip to Attleboro to experience all they have to offer. Your inner child will definitely thank you by the end of the night. You do not have to be religious to attend and if you don't buy any refreshments or religious paraphernalia, it will be completely free which is always a plus.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
