Lights Combines The Power Of Music And Comics In Upcoming Project

After revealing news of upcoming project Skin and Earth, Lights has an apocalyptic treasure that will release throughout the year. This marks her fourth album along with a comic series to accompany its musical component. From the conception of her career, Lights has always incorporated fan involvement and visual elements to her tunes. As Skin and Earth makes its way out in the world this fall, Lights invites you on an electronic scavenger hunt to seek out clues, clips, and more.

Joining Worlds - Music Meets Comics:

The power of music has the ability to take us out of the darkest moments and take us into a world like no other. Skin and Earth might be onto something more. Lights constructs herself as the main character, Enaia Jin, a student at Tempest University. In this world of chaos and despair, Jin is on a mission to find something deeper than shiny distractions and the appealing sickness that plagues surrounding minds.

"I feel my whole life has lead up to a project like this. It's a complete convergence of everything I love - music, comics, post-apocalyptic romance, crystals, wine and powerful ladies, all perfectly entwined. It'll be by far my most care-free and fierce album yet. I think now, more than ever, people need a reason to listen to a whole record, and this is mine," said Lights.

Lights is no stranger to the comic field. In her earlier works, Lights coined herself as Captain Lights in a short motion comic series, Audio Quest. This project was a collaboration with a DC Comic artist and was paired with her first album, The Listening. In Audio Quest, Lights travels from her home, The Purple Planet, and scans the universe on a mission to harvest the sounds of the universe.

Check out Audio Quest below:

In one of Audio Quests issues, she travels to Planet ISIS to fight evil and restore the harmonious sounds of the universe.

Similar to Captain Lights, Enaia Jin is on a mission to fight with the power of hope. Skin and Earth combines the strengths of music and the art of comic to embody her vision.

Check out Skin & Earth Video Teaser below:

“As of now there are only six issues, and that completes the record,” she says. “But I don’t think it’ll end there. I’m not just letting it go.”

Here's a preview below, but you can also read a longer teaser of the first issue here.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
