Meet the Leadership Magnolia Class of 2017:

This is our project we want to complete by May 2017:

Picture this.

Its a beautiful day in Magnolia, AR. You're having a hard time trying to figure out a safe place for you and your kids (and/or doggies) to go for a walk! BAM! You remember that Magnolia offers an AMAZING Square, full of awesome shops and delicious "dot cookies". Then you keep thinking of gorgeous and peaceful places to take a stroll... SAU FARM ROAD!! Southern Arkansas University is one of the largest and best colleges in Arkansas. They offer a LONG, gorgeous trail to free your mind and take in the Vitamin D.

But there’s a problem

Oh no... You can't safely and comfortably cross from one side of the square to the other without breaking into a nervous sweat because of the unnoticed crosswalks on the busy square.. So you decide to take a walk on the farm road. The farm road offers an awesome duck pond, anyways. Wait.. Now its getting dark and its not very well lit by the duck pond. Oh gosh. Here comes the nervous sweats again!

Sweat no more!

Leadership Magnolia - Class of 2017 to the rescue! We as a class will raise funds to make these two awesome places SAFE for you and your family. Yes, we consider your dog part of your family. We are in the works of getting LED lights placed into the ground to "highlight" the East and West crosswalks around the square. Every car will notice the LED lights! These lights will be bright during a sunny day and of course they will be bright at night. We, as a class, are making the Farm Road safer by raising funds to light up the newest walk ways from the Village apartments on campus all the way to the Welcome Center.

We all want a safe community. Adding these lights will make everyone more comfortable. If people notice the crosswalks then you will feel more comfortable crossing from one side of the square to the other. Lighting up the pathway at SAU will make our university even better! We believe that it will help crime rates and avoid any possibilities of crimes in the future. SAU's campus is beautiful. We need to see it day and night.

With your support and donations, we plan to have these projects completed by May 2017.

You can help us in many ways!

Monetary donations would help us the most but we understand not everyone can donate money directly. Although, keep in mind that even $1.00 gets us closer than we were before your $1.00 donation.

We also accept donations in the forms of gift cards to local stores. These would be used for raffles! If you have a high dollar item that you would like to donate, we can use it! It might be used in a raffle or a prize! We will make every donation work! We appreciate all gestures.

Our goal amount is $28,000.00.

$8,000.00 will go towards lighting the crosswalks with LED light in the concrete. $20,000.00 will be used to have lights installed on the SAU farm road.

And here’s some amazing perks for supporting us.

Major Donors (Gold and Silver) will have recognition for your generosity. We have plans to place an engraving at both sites. All donations will be greatly appreciated by the community. If you would like to make a large contribution to our project and would like to recognized in a specific way, let us know. We will do everything we can to accommodate you for your generosity.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
