Stressful Weeks Are No Fun

Just remember, the stress will end.

Stressful Weeks Are No Fun

We all know what it feels like to go through a stressful week. We all know what it feels like when the world is crashing down and we have no more energy within us to hold it up. First let me start out by saying, I understand. Second, I am here for you and praying for you.

Stressful weeks are no fun, but there are a few things to remember when you're going through one:

1. This Stressful Time Is Close To Ending

I realize that in the midst of a gloomy or hectic week, we sometimes feel like the week may never end. You might be having a bad week, or a crazy year, but one thing I can promise is it will end. There is a time for everything. A time for mourning, to stress or worry a little, or even feel a certain way. It is natural, but there is also a time to dance, to smile, to sing, to be happy, and forget you had any worries at all. Just remember to keep looking forward, never back, your time is coming!

2. Attitude Changes Everything

Staying positive in all situations in life leads to more life + happiness. I promise. There is no doubt, that even through the toughest seasons in life, your attitude will be a major key in getting you through it. The cloud hanging over your head can turn into sunshine by just a few simple, positive words.

3. Talk To Someone

This doesn't mean you have to go up to someone and spill everything that has been going on, unless you want too. It could be as simple as: "Hi, I have had a crazy day/week/month/year, and I could really use some words of encouragement or prayer." I guarantee someone is willing to listen, or speak truth over you.

We may have never met, but if you needed a hand to hold or a hug wrapped around you or just some kinds words to lift your sweet spirit, please get in touch with me. If not me, talk to someone you trust, know, or someone willing to listen.

4. Drink Lots Of Water, Eat Healthy, Go For A Run

I understand eating your worries away in cookies makes you feel better for about an hour (been there), but drinking lots of water and remembering to eat your fruits and veggies can really impact your day. When we put a bunch of junk food into our bodies, we end up 9 times out of 10 feeling like junk too. Working out, even ten minutes a day, can help turn a sad mood into a happy one. When we work out, our bodies release endorphins, which trigger a positive feeling. In the words of Elle Woods, " Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy."

Everyone goes through a bad week every now and then, sometimes it is good for us to just sit on the couch, watching helpless romantics, and overeat on cookies. But if we are in need of some serious lifting up, just remember these few things.

Oh, and one more thing, The Best Is Yet To Come.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
