With everything going on in the world in the last week everyone's hearts have been very heavy. Here are a few things that will help lift you up.

1. Watch the sunrise on the beach

Feeling the cool sand on your feet after a breezy night while watching the sky light up in beautiful colors is an amazing way to start the day.

2. Play with a puppy

Puppy are just cute and fun to cuddle with. They are always so playful and ready to have fun.

3. Hangout with a baby

There's something about a baby smile that can turn a horrible day into a great one.

4. Go on a hike

Challenge yourself, thinking about where to put your foot next will definitely take your mind off of whatever is bothering you.

5. Watch a full season of a show

Clear your schedule, plop yourself on the couch and binge watch your TV show all day.

6. Try a yoga class

Yoga is all about mindful breathing and clearing your head, when in a time of sadness or fear there is nothing better than to be completely relaxed.

7. Write a story

Write a kids story, write about a dinosaur chasing after an evil dog. Letting your inner child shine through will clear your worries.

8. Take a really long nap

Napping is like restarting the day. Something bad happened in the morning? Take a 2 hour nap and start the day over, it'll be like it never happened.

9. Go for a drive

Put down the windows, blast the music, let all your stress fly out the window and sing your heart out.

10. Surround yourself with friends

Friends will always know just what you need, whether it is 4 bags of popcorn or 4 bottles of wine they will help you through whatever is bothering you.

11. Plan a vacation

Plan a road trip or find a flight to Europe. Looking forward to the future makes the present not seem so bad.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
