I'm sure you've heard it before: "just be yourself" yada yada. Well how are you supposed to do that when you don't really even know who you are? I mean, I'm sure there is some semblance of an idea in your mind of who you are or who you want to be at some ambiguous point in the future, but how do you pinpoint that? It's definitely a relatable struggle.
For those who are fortunate enough to have it figured out already – I envy you. As for the rest of us, it's a learning process that helps us grow into the person that we are supposed to be every single day.
Personally, I like to think that I have my life figured out. When older family members ask me about my life I respond cool-ly, giving the illusion that I'm a put together, responsible adult. While the reality is that I pretty much am, there are still a few kinks I'm trying to figure out.
What I know so far is that sometimes, you have to be a little selfish. There was quite a long period of time in my life where I was living for others. Trying my best to make others happy, thinking that that's what was expected of me, what I was supposed to do. Well boy was I wrong. If you live your life living for others, how on earth are you supposed to make yourself happy? No way Jose.
No matter what aspect of your life you're questioning, there's only one question that really matters – is it what you want. Life is way too dang short to not just go for it. If your parents want you to pursue a career that you think is not for you, say something and chase your dreams. If you think that the person you're crushin' on wouldn't end up amounting to anything, think again (It could just work out).
Drake wasn't wrong when he said that you only live once. Why waste your life not being your best self?
