Do you ever just have a really awful day and put on some of your favorite songs or artists and instantly get cheered up? That constantly happens to me, and no matter the mood that I’m in, music soothes all my problems. There have been some many times where music has come in handy for me -- going through a bad breakup, high school and even some minor life tragedies, it has always helped me out in the end.

It doesn’t matter whether the music is played or whether I am creating the music on my own; it cures all of my problems in the matter of seconds. Nothing's better after a rough day than grabbing your guitar and just letting all your emotions out. Even writing down some lyrics on paper or on your computer relieves some stress from your day. I believe music plays a major role in your life, even if you don’t realize it. Music has gotten me through so many rough patches in my life; even in the darkest moods, through music, I found the other side.

Being a writer myself, music has helped me as an inspiration to write new articles, poems and even college essays. The tone of a song sets my own tone to write in, and whenever I find myself with writer's block, topics just seem to come to me when I turn on a good song. My poetry usually turns out the best when I put on a song that really sets me in the mood.

Nothing's better than coming home after a long day at work or school and putting on your favorite vinyl. Just sitting there enjoying the sound makes that long day actually worth your time.

My love for music has made me closer to certain people in my life. Music has brought my family together in times of turmoil, and we find ourselves constantly discussing the next release by our favorite artist. Growing up with music always on in my house has made it easier for me to realize a lot of things in life at an early age. Messages though songs and connections made through them have helped me out a lot in my life. My love for music is something I want to emphasise for my own children in the future.

Music has become another thing in my life that just comes regularly, and without some music in my regular routine, I find myself lost in the moment. I can't function in the morning without putting on my favorite playlists; I go to the gym without music in my ears or even my favorite CD in my car radio.

Music is something that is incredibly important to me. No matter what happens in life, I always have a song to boost my mood or get me through the day. Music has helped me develop into the person I am today.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement.
