Life Worth Living
My Bible contains questions and answers according to what real life situations look like. For example, a girl named Morgan writes:
“No one really notice or cares about me. Nobody loves me or listens to a thing I say. I don’t seem to do anything right. Lots of times I wish I was dead and wonder if I can make that come true. I don’t want to hurt anyone, but I’m tired of feeling this way. What can I do?”
Suicide is selfish. You may not want to hear it, but sometimes the hard things... hit hard and are needed. Suicide is an act that considers self. It harms loved ones and devastates God. God loves you, and He cares. You are not alone in this battle. Many people struggle with wondering if their life means anything, if it’s worth living. In fact, Emorycaresforyou.emory.edu says, “One in 10 college students has made a plan for suicide” and the CDC says, “There is one death by suicide in the U.S. every 12.3 minutes.”
Imagine if God was thinking about committing suicide... if He got fed up with the world and didn't want to deal with existing anymore. How horrible does this sound? Heaven would collapse and the earth would be no more. Then there really would be no reason for living. But God is truly alive, and He never thinks about suicide. He says, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9).
This is something marvelous and refreshing my Great God has shown me: I am a picture of God’s Love. All His believers are pictures, and our One True God is the Master photographer. He is the artist of the album. ‘You display Your children to be lights in glorifying Your Sovereign Name. You take me as I am and send me forth in my weaknesses to bring about Your strengths. How blessed am I that you would use me to further Your kingdom.’
He’s got a plan for you, but it’s not suicide. Jeremiah 29:11-14 says:
“’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ declares the Lord,”
