Five Ways To Find Lifelong Friends In College
Kayla Harrelson

College is a wonderful place, filled with wonderful people, and wonderful opportunities. It is a place where you find who you want to be and why you want to be that person. College is also a great place to find those friends you will have for a life time.

1.You Have to make the first move

When you are trying to make friends in college, you can't just sit there expecting something to happen. Open up! College is more than just going to class everyday. It is an experience of a lifetime. Making the first move ensures you tried, and want to make the effort to meet new people.

2. Be yourself, you're cooler that way

Acting like someone other than who you really are isn't fun. You have to be yourself. We were meant to be different. Being different isn't a crime, but rather an opportunity to show people the real you. Being unique gives people the chance to love the real you.

3. Its okay to laugh and make a fool of yourself

I am crazy, and for people who know me, may think I have an asthma attack when I start to laugh. Laughing and being fun is just that, FUN! People will start to know the real you by laughing at yourself and acting like a fool. Don't be afraid to show people your true colors!

4. Be honest

When we try to make friends, we like to tell them crazy stories about what we have done in the past. However, there is more to a friendship than just uping someone else's story. You have to be honest and earn their trust. Just like a relationship, you build trust between one another. There is nothing different when it comes to a friendship. We have to tell the truth, and be the best friend we can be. Friends are forever. We care about them, enjoy their presence, and even love them. We have to be honest with the ones we love.

5. Show them you care

There is nothing better than showing off a friendship you have just created! Go out, have fun, and make sure to take tons of selfies. Just like any relationship, you want to show the other person off, there's no difference here. We love to take pictures together, and show the world our new born friendship. We don't have to just take pictures and post them on social media to show them we care. Just sending an inspirational text to start their day will do the trick.

Life is too short to live it alone. We have to find people that make us happy and then we will truly know what the meaning of happiness is. Friendships are one of the most important aspects in life. College is a wonderful place to find those friends you want in your wedding party. It is a perfect place to find people you love. A life without friends is really no life at all.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
