My Pros & Cons Of Being An Only Child

Life of being an only child definitely has its ups and downs. Here are some ways being an only child affects my life.

Pro: I get spoiled (didn't have to have hand-me-downs) or get my way and what I want more.

Con: Gets very lonely, sometimes more than other times.

Pro: Closer to my mom. Therefore, she continues to trust me more than some other parents might with their children.

Con: Mom is a little too overprotective. It's alright though, shows she cares...because some parents don't.

Pro: Don't get compared to older siblings.

Con: Mom is more nosy and interested about my life.

Pro: What's mine is mine, don't have to ever share my things or fight over things.

Con: Mom always bugs me about getting stuff done, more so my homework than anything else.

Pro: Makes me want my kids to have the chance of having siblings, since I don't.

Con: Don't have a built-in friend.

Pro: More mature than others in my age group.

Con: I don't have that sister or brother bond some siblings I see do.

Pro: Closer to my friends because they are the closest thing I have to siblings.

Con: Knowing that I won't have someone be there for me no matter what all the time.

Pro: Minimal rules. I don't have to do chores, never got grounded, never had a set bed time, never had a strict and early curfew, etcetera.

Con: I had no one to learn from or learn with.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
