Iowa State College Life Up By Titus Andromedon

Iowa State College Life Up By Titus Andromedon
Pink News

My college experience so far has been an interesting one. I love going to Iowa State, but like all colleges, it has its ups and downs. I've also found a new spirit animal in Titus Andromedon, from Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I've related to him more times than not because he is the level of petty I aspire to be.

Walking into Spanish 201 and the teacher only speaks Spanish.

Looking around to see if anyone else was as confused, but everyone seemed to understand her perfectly. Turns out the next day, almost NO ONE knew what was going on. Whew!

Thinking you had all your homework done, but the professor decided to assign another reading.

I thought that I could check mine maybe every other day, but sometimes your professors will email you with more "interesting articles that we'll discuss next class." Uhhhh...

Sitting in class for only 10 minutes, but already falling asleep.

Why did I ever think I was a morning person? 8 AMs are NOT my friend.

And then 5 minutes later I want to just start yelling...

No, I do not know how to find the initial velocity of a football that was kicked. Isn't it zero?? Doesn't everything start with zero velocity???

There have also been Titus moments that related to my social life, such as...

Waiting to get into Thumpers even though I was a girl with a bunch of other girls.

Did I lose my mojo? Just kidding, did I ever even have mojo? I always let someone else do the talking and, soon enough, we got in.

Then getting in and having some rando trying to immediately dance with you.

I came out to have fun with friends, not to do some sort of bump & grind. So, umm, sir? Please don't touch the merchandise unless you're willing to buy it dinner first.

Or when someone simply says, "It was so nice to meet you!"

I think it would be so cool to meet me. Just once, so that I could relish in my awesomeness and be like, "Dang, I wish I was as cool as her. Oh wait, I AM!!"

And then there are those random times that Titus really just, got me. Ya know? Like...

When realizing you've been doing college all wrong.

And my two essays due tomorrow along with my statistics homework that didn't do itself? Sigh...

Seeing LARPing for the first time.

I come from a Native American reservation, so growing up there was no such thing as LARPing.

Asking grandma for money like...

She's always willing to spot me a twenty.

Chatting with your best friends about the gossip that happened over the weekend.

Yeah, yeah your jackets ruined, but also, who was it? Did you know them? Is it someone I know? I'm the nosiest of all nosers hehe and I love it.

So, Titus Andromedon, you beautiful, gay, black man. You understand that life is a tragedy and the only way to make it through is to be dramatic, but fierce. Thanks for the inspiration. I look forward to quoting you in my autobiography.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
