Life Doesn't Suck

Life is a beautiful gift flourishing with prosperous growth, fulfilling joy and uncontainable love.

Life Doesn't Suck

“Sometimes life just sucks.” The phrase we here from our parents, friends, professors, ourselves and many others when something just goes wrong.

You didn’t get the award. “Sometimes life just sucks.”

Classes didn’t get cancelled while it was blizzarding. “Well life just sucks sometimes.”

You just flat out do not get what you want or what you were hoping for. “Man, life sucks right now.”

And after we say, “life just sucks sometimes,” we follow it by saying, “we just have to move on.” While that has some truth to it, that we need to move on, the reason we move on shouldn’t be caused by a problem that leads us to saying, “Sometimes life sucks.”

I am a huge culprit of this. It is so easy to blame an unfortunate circumstance on the saying “life sucks.” It helps us validate that it wasn’t our fault; it makes the circumstance feel better after blaming it on something else. I get it.

Life doesn’t suck.

Sure, sometimes unfortunate things happen. You may think that life got your hopes up or life didn’t go as you thought it would. Stop saying that life sucks because it doesn’t. We get to live on this earth with friends and family, and opportunities right in front of us.

We are living every day loved by the Lord.

Are you saying that this life, for the split second something goes wrong, that God handed to you at no cost, sucks?

Life doesn’t suck.

God loves you more in a moment than anyone could in a lifetime. And you want to demean that for a hot minute while you soak in a small disappointment? Overcome that disappointment, move on and go enjoy life. One small moment does not define a life filled with everlasting love. Why would the Lord make our life suck anyway?

Life is a beautiful gift flourishing with prosperous growth, fulfilling joy and uncontainable love.

Life has a tendency to throw us for a loop, or a couple of them for that matter. These obstacles and situations that cause us to think that “life just sucks sometimes” turn us away from the Lord. The minute we turn away from God is the minute our legacy begins to unravel.

We don’t know what causes these bad things to happen. But even when we do not understand, we need to praise Him for giving this prospering life. So many things will happen this year; good things and bad.

But you need to continue to take the brave and faithful steps. Life doesn’t suck. Life is an awe-inspiring, spine-tingling, heart-stirring journey that we get to wake up to every single day. And who do we have to thank for this? I’ll give you one guess… the Lord Almighty!

Sometimes the situation might suck but life doesn’t suck.

You didn’t get the award. “Sometimes life just sucks.” “At least I got the opportunity to compete for this award..”

Classes didn’t get cancelled while it was blizzarding. “Well life just sucks sometimes.” “Well, at least I can take a cute snow picture.”

You just flat out do not get what you want or what you were hoping for. “Man, life sucks right now.” “Man, I am a little disappointed but I get to live the rest of the day loved by Him.”

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
