The majority of us always take our mothers for granted. When I was younger, I used to think that all moms did was shop and do activities for fun in order to fill time until their children came home from school.

In reality, they do everything for us. From laundry to driving her kids to and from where they need to be, along with cooking, cleaning, and grocery shopping, moms will always be undercover superheroes.

Here’s the thing about mothers. They are a special kind of blessing. Without mothers, none of us would be here. They give us life and care for their children unconditionally. One of the unique things about moms is the bond they have with their children.

Let’s be honest, mothers put up with a lot. From day one, they have been feeding you and making sure you stay out of trouble. Mothers are essential.

My mother has done more for me than she thinks I know. I notice that she does all of the small things such as reminding me to fill my prescription to the bigger things such as being the occasional taxi driver for when I need a ride to work or a meeting. She is the mom who will take initiative and text me just to ask how my day is going just because she’s curious. My mother has done so much for me and continues to each and every day.

Without mothers, all of the chores and “must do” activities that seem microscopic could seem detrimental if not done. In all actuality, mothers have the hardest job, and being a mother is a career within itself.

Nowadays, the role of a mother is changing because moms are beginning to spend more time in the workforce and hire nannies and babysitters to take care of their children so they can multitask.

If your mother can do both and still manage to keep her sanity, I sure do hope you're telling her daily how thankful and amazed you are by her.

If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.
