The Life Of A Sorority Senior, As Told By Kanye West

I'm going to let you finish, but my senior year is going to be the best anyone has ever seen.

Somehow, the time has flown by fast enough that you've become the exact copy of the senior that terrified you when you were a new member. You have learned a lot over the years, with the countless rituals, formals, date parties, philanthropies, etc. Most drastically, however, your attitude has definitely changed. You are no longer the eager freshman buying everything with your letters that your can get your hands on and showing up to every event with wide eyes that beg for the feeling to belong.

No, no, you have basically seen it all by this point. You love and cherish your sorority and the memories you have shared with these girls. Yet, let's be honest here, your attitude matches the sassy persona of the ever-so-lovable Kanye West. But hey, you've earned your sass, you own it; and what freshman, sophomore, or junior is going to tell you differently?

Plus, things are so different when you're a senior; sometimes, taking the Kanye route is really the only option you have.

Like getting asked what you plan to do after graduation and giving the obvious answer. How dare they ask about graduation anyway, everyone knows we aren't supposed to talk about it.

No matter where you go, you inevitably see every fraternity guy you have ever hooked up with throughout your years. No place is safe: bars, class, campus, not even your own sorority house.

Having to sit through chapter every Sunday when you know the information can just be sent through an email. It was fun the first seven semesters, but now it's just getting kind of old.

When the guy you were banking on to take to formal already has a different formal to go to that day. Like, you're joking right?

When you get asked to take a little as a senior. HA, no thanks, already have enough. There are only so many children you can support as a single parent.

Dealing with new members walking into formal chapter wearing the WORST outfits. Seriously, bodycon? TO CHAPTER?

When your sisters constantly remind you of all the stupid, regretful things you did throughout the years, you just give them this look (but you easily can dish it out, too). You've been through a lot together, but some things don't always need to be brought up.

Getting in trouble with standards when you literally graduate in a just a few months.

Not knowing who any of the new members are, except for the ones you recruited or who are in your fam.

Always having the best ideas for Date Party and Mixer themes. You've been to enough of them that you know which ones have the best outfit options (for you, anyway).

Most importantly, you're going to go out as much as possible for your last semester and make some final memories with your sisters as a collegiate.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
