My Life As A Passionate Reader

“A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, it is to keep its edge.” ― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

It is no secret that I am a passionate reader. I have been living inside the pages of books ever since I can remember. I inherited the habit of reading from my father. My favorite childhood memory will always be that of every week waiting for my dad to come back from work to bring me a new book. They ranged from picture books to do-it-yourself books to novels to world atlases. Even though I am an only child, I never grew up fully alone. These gifts were maps that guided me to all types of adventures that eventually lead to self discovery.

Thanks to the books I have read, I am a more empathetic, imaginative and creative individual. Reading has widened my mind’s horizons and fully transformed my view of the world. I am incredibly observant of my surroundings and never fail to notice everything from diverse perspectives. I absorb each and every detail of my whereabouts and try to imprint them onto the last inch of my memory. I assimilate each experience in my life and each lesson learned. Lastly, I try to understand each person’s story and background.

I use this philosophy of viewing the world in my storytelling. I enjoy sharing stories in order to promote a more empathetic point of view. I want to expand people’s minds towards becoming tolerant to various individuals. I use my stories as a weapon against ignorance and judgment. Most importantly, I tell stories because I want to give others something that books have brought to me: a chance to escape. No matter how tragic my life has felt, a book with a great story has always managed to transport me into another world. I hope that one day my movies will be able to have the same result on others.

My passion for reading has had an effect on all of my future goals. Books have guided me towards becoming a dreamer. I am not afraid to fight for what I want or believe in. Reading has taught me that I am capable of doing anything I put my mind to, no matter how hard a task may seem. This has propelled me onto choosing to work in the film industry and hence share my stories with everyone in the world.

Reading has motivated me recently to start my own Youtube channel about literature. Ever since, I have gotten to explore literature and its effects in a deeper fashion. I also have gotten to spread the power of books everywhere along with other people all around the world. This has made me realize that I want to create content based on fomenting the habit of reading upon others. I want to spread this power from streets of my city until the rest of the world. I will give back the magic that reading has gifted me for generations to come and maybe improve the world in the process.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
