10 Life Lessons Only College Could Teach Me

The lessons high school me would have never expected to have to learn.

As a senior in college, things have been challenging to say the least. College is more than just learning and tests, it can more times than not teach you hard life lessons, which has certainly been the case for me.

Nonetheless, I can honestly say that it has shaped me into the person I am today and for that, I am absolutely thankful. Not only am I a different person, but I can honestly say that I am also a much better person.

How to juggle a million things at once

If someone isn't treating you like a decent human being, you don't have to keep them around

How to say NO and how to not be a pushover in general

Boys and dating aren't everything

I've learned how to be happy on my own, and happier surrounded by people I love.

How to be exceptionally open-minded, because not everyone is like me, and thats okay.

Friends come and go, because given time, people eventually show you their true colors.

The transition into the adult world is much harder than everyone makes it look

That I actually enjoy reading a good book. Again, GOOD.

Four years go by much quicker than any of us would like, so it's important to make the most of every moment.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated.
