Life Lessons from Meredith Grey

If you know me well, you know that I am probably one of the biggest Grey's Anatomy fans in the world. So, it goes without saying that Meredith Grey is quite possibly one of my favorite characters ever to exist on this earth. She has so much depth to her, which continues to make her so interesting and intriguing, even 12 seasons later. She is a ridiculously smart woman with a lot to teach us so, here are a few life lessons I think we could all learn from her.

1. It's okay not to be okay

Meredith has been through a lot over the past 12 seasons, but she continues to remind us that life can get hard and it is completely okay to be sad about it. Sure, it's not healthy to be sad all the time but she makes it clear that you don't have to paste a fake smile on your face 24/7 for people to like you.

2. How to be a great friend

Christina and Meredith are friendship goals for sure. No matter what is going on, whether they are near or apart they always have each others backs. They know when to hug it out, dance it out, or just stay away from each other and I think that's a kind of relationship we all need to have.

3. Love just happens

We all know that Meredith had anything but the perfect love story with Mcdreamy. So many things tried to tear their relationship apart, yet they always remained together, as one. The love they shared was undeniable and no one could take that away.

4. Don't take yourself too seriously

Life is too short to worry about the little things, and Meredith knows that all too well. For her, the little things were acts such as shaving her legs. Meredith Grey was always busy saving lives and I think it's great that she can sit back and laugh on the little things that others might stress over.

5. Speak up when you want something

Looking back, it was these 6 words that completely changed the route that Grey's Anatomy took. Meredith shows us that if you really want something you have to fight for it, and that's exactly what she did. You never know you might end up with your McDreamy if you're willing to open up and say what you really feel.

6. How to be a super woman

Alright, well maybe she didn't teach us how to be a super woman, but we sure loved watching her do it. So far she has survived every hand life has dealt her, no matter how difficult they may be. She literally plays every role in life and nothing can slow her down.

Meredith Grey is a powerhouse character in the legendary TV series that is Grey's Anatomy. This show may consist of made up situations but I really think it has so many real life lessons to teach. So from all the die hard Grey's fans out there to you, Meredith here is what we would like to say.

You are anything but ordinary.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
