Life Lessons I've Learned Through Netflix

I like to think that I am something of a Netflix master. I binge watch with the best of them and I always seem to end up on the website instead of Microsoft Word to type a paper. It is an addiction, but an addiction that has many benefits. My time on Netflix has taught me a plethora of life lessons and it is only fair to share all of the wisdom I have learned to those who don't spend the same amount of time binge watching television shows as me.

1. Be a good man in a storm- Grey's Anatomy.

Arizona Robbins said this line while confronting her girlfriend's father who did not approve of their relationship. I was taught to be a good man in a storm and to not give up in the face of adversity.

2. What she tackles she conquers-Gilmore Girls

This quote was from the patriarch of the Gilmore clan and I think that we should all go out there and conquer the world.

3. Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose- Friday Night Lights.

This quote from the series had a recurring theme throughout the series. It is simple, but very deep.

4. Show him no weakness. No Fear-Criminal Minds

In the face of true adversity, keep your head up and thrive.

5. There's a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn't that kinda the point?-The Office

Oh Pam Beesly, you beautiful flower. Yes there is beauty everywhere you go.

6. I want to be a gladiator in a suit-Scandal

Kicking butt. Taking names. Looking awesome while doing it.

7. There is always hope tomorrow will be taco night-Orange is the New Black

I feel this on a spiritual level because nothing will ever beat taco night.

8. I'm not a stop along the way. I'm a destination-Gossip Girl

Know your worth and know how to fight for it. Blair Waldorf has so many beautiful one liners throughout her time on Gossip Girl, but this one is something special.

9. People are going to label you. It's how you overcome those labels, that's what matter-One Tree Hill

It doesn't matter what people say about you. It is how you react to it.

10. I am big enough to admit that I am often inspired by myself-Parks and Recreation

It's okay to think that you are the bomb diggity because you are. Inspire yourself, it's okay.

11. I'm tough, but I'm no cookie-American Horror Story

Get it girl! You don't have to be something sweet when you are trying to be tough.

12. She's our friend and she's crazy-Stranger Things

Everyone has that one off-the-wall friend, but they are still amazing human beings and you would still protect them to the ends of the earth.

13. Suit up!-How I Met Your Mother

Put on your suit and prosper.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
