If you’ve ever listened to any of Kacey Musgraves’ music, you know that she has a clever way of writing about life. In such writing she hints at elementary ideologies that could really simplify how you live if you listen closely.

Here are 7 life lessons in the form of Kacey Musgraves lyrics

“You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't, so you might as well just do, whatever you want”

Many of us worry too much about pleasing others with our own decisions but the simple truth is that you can’t please everyone, so you should work on making yourself happy first.

“Mind your own biscuits and life will be gravy”

It’s human nature to be interested in the lives of others, and want to help or give advice, but sometimes our advice just isn’t wanted or needed so we have to learn to stay out of other people’s business and worry about our own issues.

“Family is family, in church or in prison, You get what you get, and you don't get to pick 'em… Yeah, friends come in handy, but family is family”

Everyone can be driven crazy by their families but they are the only one that you get. No matter what, they will always be there for you, and we should all appreciate them more.

“Nobody's everybody's favorite, so you might as well just make it how you please, ‘Cause you can't be everybody's cup of tea”

We all like to be liked by others, but it’s not really possible to be liked by everyone. Sometimes people just don’t get along and that’s okay, and we just need to try to stop getting hung up on the idea of being liked by everyone we meet.

“I ain't exactly Ms. Congenial, Sometimes I talk before I think, I try to fake it but I can't, I'd rather lose for what I am than win for what I ain't”

It’s hard to be yourself sometimes, especially when it’s not going to make you popular, but it’s always best to remain who you are.

“I'm happy with what I got, 'cause what I got is all I need, Just cause it don't cost a lot, don't cost a lot, don't mean it's cheap”

There is value is what you have and what you love, even if they are not the fanciest or most extravagant things. If they make you happy, that is all that is important.

“If you're ever gonna find a silver lining, It's gotta be a cloudy day”

As much as we’d all like for all our days to be good days, they can’t be. You have to have bad days so you can really appreciate the good ones.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
