Throughout our lives, many of us pick up life lessons from important people or experiences we encounter. Our grandparents, parents, or personal heroes all serve as influential figures. However as a '90s baby, I think it's safe to say that my generation picked up a lot of life lessons from our good friend, SpongeBob Squarepants. From the Krusty Krab Pizza, to the Hash Slinging Slasher, here are 10 things that SpongeBob taught us...

1. Procrastination happens!

We all have those nights when that five page paper turns into just writing your name, the header and the title. Good progress, I'll finish the rest tomorrow!

2. You are enough!

One of "you" is always enough! There is only one of you for a reason and you are utterly unique. Mi hoy minoy hoy!

3. Don't be in a rush to grow up!

Remember when SpongeBob went to his grandma's house and refused to be babied because he was a "grown man now?" Don't be in such a rush to grow up or you'll miss all the great things happening around you! Keep on eating your grandma's cookies.

4. Material possessions aren't worth as much as your loved ones

Mr. Krabs always had some big scheme to make tons of money and it never worked out for him! At the end of the day, what really matters is the loved ones you surround yourself with.

5. Customer service is key

SpongeBob and Squidward endured a lot, even being around each other, just to get a Krusty Krab pizza to a customer. Going the extra mile for others is a great quality, even when it doesn't always work out. They forgot the customers drink, but they worked together to get that pizza delivered!

6. Use your imagination!

You're never too old to use your imagination!

7. Love your neighbor

Even though Plankton is known as the bad guy of the show, SpongeBob never fails to show Plankton kindness and try to include him. We should show kindness and love to all, even if they may not be the nicest. Turn the other cheek! Maybe they're just having a bad day.

8. Never be afraid to try new ideas

SpongeBob's idea to create Pretty Patties wasn't taken seriously by Mr. Krabs, so he decided to start his own business! It didn't end very positively, but at least he tried! Never be afraid to get out there and try something new!

9. Don't believe everything you hear!

SpongeBob was deathly afraid of the Hash Slinging Slasher, and that story wasn't true! It's easy to believe things we see on the Internet because we think they're credible. Don't believe everything you hear!

10. Don't be someone you're not. Stay true to who you are!

Always be yourself and love who you are!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
