Not every rom-com has a happy ending, and sometimes we need to see that.

80's and 90's rom-com's are iconic. They're sugar coated in ooey-gooey young love and follow a strict and successful formula: guy + girl + relationship uncertainty + wild mishaps + grand gesture of love + sunset. Except for My Best Friend's Wedding.

Spoiler Alert: the opposite happens, actually.

Instead, the movie ends with Julia Roberts alone, regretful and wishing she had spoken up when she had the chance. My Best Friend's Wedding isn't your typical rom-com at all, and here are nine real life lessons to take away from it.

1. Don't play yourself.

2. Get yourself a best friend that will listen but always keep it real.

Maybe it's brutally honest, but it's probably what you need to hear.

3. Don't ever let an important moment just slip by.

4. Always be honest because lying just makes messes.

(and leaves you smoking a cigarette outside your non-smoking hotel room reconsidering your life.)

5. There's Crème Brûlée and there's Jell-O, but you can't be both.

They're both delicious desserts, but that doesn't mean they're the same, and that's okay.

6. Be brave and fight for what you want

7. Tell people how you feel.

If you don't, how're they ever supposed to know?

8. Sometimes doing what's best for someone you love hurts you.

If you love someone, let them go, right?

9. And sometimes it really is too late.

But every sunset has a sunrise, the world will keep turning, and you'll dance again. :)

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
