7 Disney Movies With Real Life Lessons

Disney movies have always had a huge impact on my life. I grew up watching Disney movies with my family, singing along to every word of every song and dancing along with the princesses. As high school came around, my best friend and I started Magical Monday's: a day dedicated to watching Disney movies. As I re-watched them, I was able to pick up different lessons from when I watched it as a child.

1. "Hercules"

Megara might be my favorite character ever. She starts off being this strong, unbreakable girl who eventually falls for the main character -- but not without a fight. "At least out loud, I won't say I'm in love." Thanks to Meg, I learned that it's okay to be that strong and independent girl; look how badass she is!

2. "Aladdin"

"Aladdin" holds a special place in my heart. I always considered myself just like Jasmine (wishful thinking, I know), and hoped that one day I would find my own Aladdin. However, I definitely realized that this movie was about more than this cute, perfect couple. It was about finding yourself and staying true to who you are. "...it is not what is outside, but what is inside that counts."

3. "Lion King"

"Lion King" is one of my parent's favorites. There are so many things to be learned from this movie, and they're hidden throughout the movie so well. "Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or...learn from it."

4. "Frozen"

As cliche as this one is, it is a great quote. This movie taught me the true meaning of friendship, family, and the sacrifice that comes with the love we have for these people. "Some people are worth melting for."

5. "Tangled"

I love this movie. It's heartwarmingly happy, has amazing character development, and the humor is incredible. There were many good lessons about love from this movie that I got. However, this particular quote stuck out to me. Not often are we told that finding a new dream is okay, and in fact, encouraged! "What if it's not everything I dreamed it would be?" "You get to find a new dream."

6. "Mulan"

A strong female lead, heavy cultural influence and a great story. What else could you need in a movie? There are so many great inspiring quotes in this film that push girls and young women to grow no matter what the circumstances they're placed in. "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all."

7. "The Jungle Book"

This movie is all about letting go-being happy with what you have and going with the flow. It's the kind of movie you watch when you need to be lifted up. With that said, even the lyrics of these songs have things we can learn from: just let go! "Forget about your worries and your strife."

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
