Life Lessons From Alice In Wonderland
Life Seasons

Alice in Wonderland was a novel written in 1865 by Lewis Carroll. Even though the novel dates so far back there are still a lot of life lessons that the story can teach us. It can teach us to let curiosity run wild or to celebrate the little things. Life can get a little nuts, especially as we get older so here are some life lessons to help us out.

1. Falling Down the Rabbit Hole

Curiosity kills the cat but its satisfaction that brings it back. In life we often find ourselves falling into the unknown, much like when Alice fell into the rabbit hole. No matter how old you get, you are still going to have times were you fall into unexpected situations. You're going to have to deal with it. You're not sure what is going to happen or how its going to end but eventually satisfaction will you bring you back to where you need to be. Nothing is impossible.

2. Meeting of the Flower Garden

Life is hard especially when you feel so different. We learn from the flowers that everyone is different. Everyone looks different, smells different, and even have a different purpose(or personality) but thats why the world works so well. So it is okay to be any type of flower you want to be and even if people call you a weed, you know who are you.

3. "Who are you?", Said the Caterpillar

Who are you? Hopefully after the flower garden you have officially figured out who you are. If not, its okay because throughout our life we change. You probably are not the same person you were five years ago and you probably will not be the same person 10 years from now. It is even okay to go through a part in your life where you just cannot answer that question just yet, you still need to figure it out first. Eventually you will know, every caterpillar turns into a butterfly one day.

4. Very Merry Un-Happy Birthday, Mad Hatter

Life tends to get very hectic. Sometimes so hectic you lose track of time or even what day it is. It is easy to get wrapped up in everyday life responsibilities but it is important to take sometimes for yourself. Going out and enjoying a cup of tea or being out with friends can make a whole day difference in your life. We can also learn from the Mad Hatter than its okay to celebrate the little things. Maybe not your very merry un-birthday but maybe the fact you got a free bus ticket or met a new friend. Life is crazy but does not mean you have to go mad.

5. Finding your Way

It is important to know that not everyone knows where they are going in life. Sometimes you need to take the wrong path to find the right path. Maybe even sometimes there might not even be a path to take. Most people also need a little help from other people or a Cheshire cat but thats where you can learn the most important lessons. If you don't know where you are heading that it isn't important which path you take as long as you take a path. Everyone might seem like they have it all together but remember we are all mad here but most of the greatest people are.

6. The Queen of Farts....Oops, I meant Hearts

Not everyone you meet through out life is going to be as nice as you would like them to be. Sadly, sometimes it's the people with power that can be the most mean. It can be your boss, professor, or coach. It can also be someone with no power but just want to be rude. Unfortunately though, like the Queen of Hearts, if they have the power it is important to always be nice to them no matter what. In the long run, its better for yourself to just be nice because being mean is not good for the soul and might lead you to have to paint the roses red for the rest of your life. Nobody wants to do that.

7. Lastly, dream a little.

What is life without a little dreaming? It is important to dream because reality can get the best of us sometimes. Imagination can be a peaceful place to get away to. Who knows, maybe you can make your own wonderland to escape to when things get too crazy to handle. It is important to hold onto your dreams because everyone started with a dream and now are successful. Dreaming is not just for little girls that fall down rabbit holes, dreams are what make the world of imagination go around. Dreams then turn into reality and how great is that?

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
