It honestly feels unreal to me that I'm turning nineteen in a few days. These past nineteen years have had its highs and lows but I would not change anything that has happened to me. These are some of the many things I have learned these past nineteen years.

1. Your family is your biggest supporter.

No matter what, your family will always, support you in anything you do.

2. You are beautiful no matter what others say.

You are beautiful just the way you are, and no one should ever make you feel otherwise.

3. Enjoy every moment!

Life goes by so fast, don't dwell it on a test you failed or something else that won't matter in a few years. Enjoy the time you have with your friends and family, It goes so quick.

4. It gets better.

I promise you it does.

5. Don't be afraid.

Don't be afraid of what others think of you, the only opinion that matters is your own.

6. Everything happens for a reason

Just know that everything will end up being okay.

7. Laugh more.

Laughter is the best medicine, be happy, and always smile.

8. Friendships don't last forever, and that's okay

Friends come and go, but eventually, you will find the ones that will stick around forever.

9. Be strong.

Life is hard, but don't let that be the thing to break you. Keep going no matter what.

10. Love will find you.

You never know when you'll fall in love or when it will find you. I didn't think I ever would fall in love again, but I did. And I'm the happiest I've been in a long time.

11. Be kind

Always be kind to others, because a little kindness goes a long way.

12. Stand up for what you believe in.

Today I am no longer afraid to stand up for what I believe is right, and I'm very proud of that.

13. Your scars don't make you weak

These scars proved that you're stronger than you look and that you are alive for a reason.

14. Believe in yourself

I had a tough time believing in myself growing up, just take a deep breath in and do whatever your heart desires because people believe in you.

15. God has a plan

I lost faith in God growing up, but recently I started going back to church and my faith in God became restored. No matter what happens, God has a reason why he's putting you through a tough situation.

16. It's okay not to be okay.

It's okay to cry, it doesn't make you weak one bit.

17. People care

There are so many people who care for you, you just have to look.

18. See the beauty in others

Even when they don't see it in themselves

19. Love yourself

Over the years I've learned to love myself for who I am and that's the most important thing. I couldn't be happier.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
