Life Lessons By Duck Dynasty
The Nation

"Duck Dynasty" is a television show that airs on A&E Network. It is about a Louisiana family who loves God and duck hunting. The family owns Duck Commander, a multi-million dollar company that specializes in making duck calls, which grew tremendously from its humble beginnings. The program features members of the Robertson family and focuses on their daily lives. Each episode has a theme and ends with a relevant life lesson. "Duck Dynasty" is a comedy for all ages that teaches the importance of family and fearing God. Here are some lessons that I learned from "Duck Dynasty".

1. Crap happens

Willie Robertson expresses his frustration with the word "crap" whenever something goes wrong. From "Duck Dynasty," we can learn that "crap" happens and sometimes you have to just move on and accept it.

2. Exercise is important

Not all members of the Robertson family are what one would consider “physically fit.” Though not everyone is skilled in sports, they always make an effort and make sure to get their exercise.

3. Friendly competition is a good thing

The Robertson brothers tend to compete with each other. . . over everything. Though they may be a bit extreme, they show us that a little friendly competition can be fun every once in awhile.

4. Always make smart decisions

The Robertsons have grown their business because of the decisions they have made. They understand that business decisions should be carefully considered in order to result in the best outcomes.

5. Stay true to your values

The Robertson family members have their values and they stick to them, even when they are questioned. Actions speak louder than words, and the Robertsons show us that it is important to practice what your preach.

6. To be straightforward

Beating around the bush is a waste of time. The Robertsons waste no time in telling you how it is, sometimes without considering your feelings in the process. Though it is important to be considerate of others, being direct is not a bad habit to have.

7. Sometimes naps are necessary

Si shows us that we should work hard, but nap harder. Even though he's at work, he still plans time for a nap in order to ensure that he makes it through the day.

8. Eating well is essential

The Robertsons love to eat. Miss Kay is always cooking up something good and often uses it as motivation to get her sons to do work around the house.

9. Working hard is the way to get what you want

Sometimes, the Robertsons are a little lazy, but when it comes down to it they know that hard work pays off. It is how their business grew from a “mom and pop” to the empire it is today.

10. Always make time for fun

Even during work, the Robertsons find time to have fun. They all enjoy their lives and ensure that they make space for some goofing off every once in awhile.

11. Don't let society tell you who to be

The Robertson family does not care what they look like and they don’t pay attention to how it makes other people feel. They like their beards and even though they don’t fit the norms of society, they are okay with it.

12. Appreciate nature

Nature is God's greatest gift. The Robertsons appreciate what nature provides for them and think of it as their home.

13. Love your neighbor

The Robertson family believes that you should love your neighbor no matter what differences you have. It doesn't matter if you completely disagree with another person's life - you are their neighbor in God's kingdom and you should treat them as if they were a part of your own family.

14. Spread the Word of God

The Robertsons love God and they live to serve their Lord. “Everywhere my sons and I go, we’re telling people the good news about Jesus, blowing duck calls, and making people happy, happy, happy – then down the road we go," said Phil Robertson.

15. Family over everything

No matter how many disagreements occur between brothers, the Robertsons know how important family is. At the end of the day, they look past their disagreements and recognize how lucky they are to have such a great big family of people to love.

"Duck Dynasty" is a great show that teaches its viewers important lessons. Whether they are about loving family, loving God or simple tips on how to get through the day, we can learn a lot from this crazy family and have a good laugh while we’re at it!

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
