24 Valuable Life Lessons I've Learned In 24 Years

In This Article:

Over 24 years, I have learned these crucial 24 things:

1. Self-love is essential, you must love yourself before somebody else can

2. People say "follow your heart"... Not in every situation, instead listen to your heart, act with your brain

3. Time heals almost everything, give it some time, experience the change

4. Sometimes we expect more from people because we would be willing to do that much for them

5. Life isn't always fair, but it's still good

6. Never let loyalty make a fool of you

7. What doesn't kill you really does make you stronger

8. Hard times will ALWAYS reveal your true friends, the ones who said "I'll be here for you" and more importantly PROVED it

9. It's okay to not be okay sometimes, just don't make it a permanent destination

10. It's okay to cry, it can be helpful and release stress + pain inside

11. Overthinking will destroy your happiness and your mood. It will make everything worse than it actually is, so always take a deep breath, exhale, have faith, and remember what's meant to be will be

12. The one that loves you will never leave you even if there are hundreds of reasons to give up, they will find one to hold on

13. Life is too short to wake up hating somebody, no matter how much they've wronged you

14. The one thing that you have that nobody else has is YOU. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision

15. Life becomes easier when you learn to accept the apology you never got

16. Never be too hard on yourself, it's okay to make mistakes and fail sometimes

17. Always be kind, no matter the situation. Kindness can go a long way and changes everything

18. Let your hands be so busy catching blessings that you don't have the capacity to hold onto grudges

19. We're all bad in someone's story

20. Always have patience and trust your journey

21. Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path

22. No one owes you anything and you owe yourself everything

23. Don't let the person who didn't love you keep you from the one that will

24. Above all, it's God alone who will sustain you forever

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
