Life Is More Than What You Think

You are more.

Life Is More Than What You Think

So quickly in today's society people allow themselves to be consumed by the belittling things in life. Instead of enjoying life for all that it truly is, people concern themselves with the next "buzz-worthy" thing happening in the media. No longer are people seizing the opportunity to truly live and be happy with themselves. Our thoughts, the way we see ourselves, and even the way we choose to live is influenced by society. Even when we try to break away from this unrelenting mold, we find ourselves drawn to this way of life. A life in which our appearance holds more importance over how we feel inside. A life in which social media takes precedence over all other use of our time. A life in which people care more about seeking the approval of others, rather than their own.

What happened to living for ourselves? What happened to putting our happiness and self first?

Somewhere along the way, many people stopped living for themselves and started living for the sake of others. But let us remind ourselves that none of this truly matters. Our looks, the way we dress, and the way others choose to view us holds no value in this life. We are so much more than that. Life is so much more than that.

So the next time you find yourself stressing over the petty little things in life, remind yourself that there is so much more to this world. That YOU are so much more.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
