Stop.
What are you doing right now? Well, yes, you are reading my article to state the obvious, but what about when this comes to an end? Think to yourself, do you even remember how your day started?
This may sound redundant but truthfully, how often do you actually think about what you are doing at the moment.
Not much, huh?
Our minds are consumed with the next minute, the next week, the next event, the next anything—we are mistakenly waiting for our lives to start when they already have.
We work hard, suffer through our restless Mondays and useless Wednesdays until it's time for the weekend. We think about going to bed at the end of the day just breaths after we wake up. We anticipate and count down the days to our next vacation, even if it’s months away. We are constantly assuring ourselves this mirage, the future, means better. In the future, I will let go of my fears of the present.
This is not the future nor can you bring back the past. This is it. Life is now.
How many times have you thought, “this day went by fast” or “where did this week go?” Yep. That’s what happens with this unforgiving thing called time. It flies, and before you know it, a year has gone by and you are not really sure what even happened. Stop observing life on an auto-piloted schedule. Before you know it, you are going to think, where did my life go?
It feels safe to make excuses for ourselves as to why we aren’t going after something you want. You’ll do it tomorrow. Maybe you’ll look for a job next month. I'll wait till he texts me first before I show any interest.
STOP.
What are you afraid of?
Spiders and dark isolated alleys are acceptable answers but living your life is not.
Get rid of this longing perception that only the future will provide you happiness. Get rid of this waiting lifestyle.
Every day is a gift and it is our job to reciprocate that.
Do something each day that makes you happy. Do something each day that reminds you that you are alive and life is happening now.
Now ask yourself, what are you going to do now?
