We all know that a freshman in high school is basically a different species from a senior in college, and frankly, thank goodness for that. As I go into my junior year of college, I still cringe when forced to read/watch/experience pretty much anything from my days in high school. Here is a list of some of the many differences in how situations are handled in high school vs. in college.
1. "I have to stay in to study tonight."
High school: "Oh my gosh you are so lame."
College: "Wow, good for you, I'm so proud."
2. "I just failed that test."
High School: I actually got a B-.
College: I literally got a 41 percent on that test.
3. "Hey I can't go out to dinner tonight, I am too broke."
High School: An excuse when you don't want to hang with someone.
College: I just checked my bank account. It has 14 cents.
4. "I watched Netflix all day yesterday!"
High School: You watched two episodes of a show before bed.
College: You literally watched Netflix for the entire day.
5. "Hey, I want you to meet my new boyfriend!"
High School: OMG how dare you choose a boy above me!
College: Welcome to the family!
6. "Wow, I am so busy today."
High School: I have soccer practice and then I have to do a math worksheet.
College: I have four classes, five meetings, a 10-page paper, three tests, and work for six hours.
7. "I'm gonna have some people over tonight."
High School: I'm inviting my five best friends that I do everything with.
College; I'm inviting my roommates, my sorority sisters, my friends from my econ class, that guy I met in the hallway the other day, my friends from another university, and whoever else wants to come because the more the merrier!
8. "I'm so mad at you."
High School: I heard from a friend who heard from his friend that you might have talked to my ex-boyfriend, so I am giving you the silent treatment and telling all of our friends to do the same.
College: You ate my last bagel. (I'm already over it.)
