When you get to college you feel like you are so grown up but there are a lot of things that you learn not only in your classes. These are a few of those things that can serve either as a healthy reminder or to add to your wealth of knowledge.

1. What to splurge on and where to be cheap

You should splurge on some facial products like lotions, face wash, and some make up items but not all. Buy the cheapest toothpaste there is in the isle because they are all the same. Maybe go out for dinner every once and a while but always bring home the leftovers to get a second meal out of them.

2. Compromise is key

Whether you have a group project or roommates there can never me a my way or the highway attitude. The sooner you realize that you need to compromise on some things and they do as well the easier your life will be.

3. Learn how to use your computer well

Having strong, credible internet research skills and being able to use Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Google Docs well will come in super handy.

4. Do your laundry during the week

Everyone does their laundry during the weekend because they are having a lazy day so getting a jump start and doing your laundry on a week day that is not a holiday will not only prevent your clothes from being taken out for you but also you can pick which washer and drying you want.

5. Don’t use your meal plan to make your cheat day every day

The fatty, greasy foods are always yummy but they should not become a habit. Remember to opt for the healthier options more than the non-healthy options. Your body will thank you for that later. Balance it all out.

6. Get some nice running shoes

You will be walking a lot. Save your feet and your back by investing in some shoes that cover your toes and support your arches. Maybe the cuter they are and the more you wear them you might remember to go work out later.

7. Grab extra free items from restaurants

Here is a place you can save yourself. Grab a handful of napkins, sauce packets, salt and pepper packets as well, and the plastic silverware that way you don’t have to wash them, easy clean up when you spill, and you have some flavor to your foods when you need it.

8. Always ask to see if there are secret discounts

Some stores don’t always post that they give a student discount or even a discount to just your school. It never hurts to ask. The worst case is that they just tell you that they don’t have one.

9. Have a planner

You have to learn a lot and you will have homework and due dates that your professors will not remind you of. Have a way of keeping track of what day of the week things are happening, what time, and where.

10. Command hooks are a lifesaver

They can hang everything. You can use them to help decorate or to help yourself be practical by hanging your keys, calanders, notes, or towels.

Hopefully this was a helpful tool or reminder. College is a great because you get to meet new people and learn new things and I hope these hacks make it easier for you.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
