My Life As A Gamer's Girlfriend

I know what you are thinking right now: "Is this seriously a thing?" Well, I am here to tell you it is! I am a girlfriend of a hardcore computer gamer. I am talking dual monitors, wireless headset so he can walk upstairs and still talk to his online friends, and as for the actual computer...he bought all the parts separately and built it himself. To be honest, I haven't ever fully understood why this is my boyfriend's favorite hobby. There have been many times when I have been so aggravated at him for not spending time with me or not being able to leave right this second because he is in the middle of a game, but I will say that his knowledge and dedication to this hobby continues to impress me every day.

Even though his gaming obsession isn't always a bad thing, I still have to constantly remind myself that I also have hobbies that he doesn't understand (like reading or binge-watching Netflix), and that I need to let him have some fun in his life. His gaming also makes my life a little more interesting (something I never ever thought I would admit out loud). So, this is my life as a gamer's girlfriend.

1. When he just started a League of Legends game and I am starving.

(You could say that I am not a patient person when I am hungry.)

2. It might be a beautiful day outside, but we most likely aren't going out there!

"Fine! I will go outside by myself..."

3. Me trying to get him to go to bed on the weekends.

4. Looks like I am sleeping with the lights on tonight!

5. If he has his headset on, then everyone in the house will most likely be able to hear me yelling his name several times to get his attention.

6. And he will be yelling back at me, forgetting that I can hear him just fine.

7. Sometimes I forget that he isn't talking to me, so I will start having a conversation with him. LOL!

"What are you talking about, babe?"

8. But when I hear him talking to his online friends like he's the one in charge, I am one proud girlfriend.

My boyfriend's online gaming habit isn't my most favorite part about him, but that's OK! I understand that we like different things, and it's pretty cool to listen to him talk so in depth about a subject that you wouldn't think is so complicated (but it totally is)! I definitely don't know the first thing about computers or gaming or regularly chatting with people across the United States, but he sure does! For the first time, I will admit that he picked a pretty cool hobby. I am really glad he has something he enjoys as much as I enjoy reading a good book! So here's to gamers' girlfriends everywhere. Remember that your boys are cool in their own special way. ;)

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
