Everyone had seniority's, but I had sophmoritis in high school. I could not wait to get out of there. In my sophomore year, I planned my future major, what university I would attend, and even what dorm I would want. since sophomore year I had watched videos on YouTube of what to pack and advice other people wish they had known.
I knew it all by senior year, or so I thought.
As I exit my first month of college, I have realized and learned a few things. The first and most prominent is how much I miss my family. I was not prepared to miss my family, mainly my baby brother(pictured above with a goodbye gift I gave him). My brother is my best friend and it hurts my heart to be away from him.
Therefore, I have learned that I will infect be going home quite a bit to see my family, something I thought I would not do very much.
I have also, painfully, learned the importance of checking Blackboard for announcements about class and assignments. Walking to class 15 minutes from your dorm at 9 am to find out your class is canceled, is the perfect reminder to always check Blackboard.
Although I have only been here for a month, I feel as if I have grown in my ability to manage my time. Senior year of high school was pretty easy for me and was not rigorous in the sense of homework.
Therefore, many of my tactics to get homework done in a timely manner were lost after junior year. Everyone stressed the importance of time management when giving me advice for school so I had an idea of what was going to be required of me.
My time management comes from breaking up assignments due to my short attention span as well as waiting to do fun stuff like watching Netflix or going to target (so fun I know) until after I complete my assignments.
Being in college has already taught me a few vital lessons, I cannot wait to see what else I learn throughout the year.
