Excuses that get in the way of living:
1. Only stupid or weak people ask for help
Recognizing your imperfection is a sign of mental strength and intelligence.
2. I have to deal with my own problems on my own
Other people may offer a different perspective on your problem.
3. No one can understand my problems.
These usually indicate egocentrism (I am the only one with this problem, you can't understand me) or various fears (being undervalued and misunderstood). But if you keep silent and expect things to work themselves out, or for someone else to figure out what you're going through, you won't make any difference in your life.
4. I don't want to remember anything, digging up the past, it hurts a lot
Unresolved problems, feelings, or traumas will always look for a way out. And if they are not remembered, not analyzed, not realized the impact on your current life, they will constantly remind you of themselves. And sometimes even burst with a sudden avalanche of feelings. They will already be disproportionate to the stimulus that caused them.
5. Don't tell me how to live my life. I can do it myself.
So say those who are afraid to appear weak. But if you go to a specialist (of any field) to solve your problems, no one is teaching you how to live. You are only helped to gather the necessary information and analyze it. Bringing in an expert can help you see new ways of dealing with your issue.
6. I'm not too serious to ask for help.
Sometimes you may underestimate the seriousness of a problem. Don't confuse confidence with self-confidence. Thinking you have everything under control can waste precious time and set things off.
7. This is my fate. Nothing will help me anymore
What we prescribe to fate, karma, and other supernatural phenomena is the result of psychological illiteracy. What we cannot explain to ourselves takes on a mystical character. Fortunately, there are real patterns behind everything that we can change.
