Life, As Told by Ross Geller

I’ve come to the realization that Ross is basically me without actually being me.

Life is inevitably a challenge 99 percent of the time, so recently, I have been spending my time watching reruns of Friends on Netflix. Friends is one of those shows that a person can watch at any time of the day and just feel... better about themselves. The group is always up to no good and struggles just as much as the rest of us do. I personally always thought I related to Phoebe or Joey, but the more I watch, the more I realize how much Ross describes nearly every emotion I go through each day.

1. "I'm fine!"

The classic girl line. Chances are, if I say “I’m fine,” I’m nowhere near being “fine.” He’s the same way.

2. Grammar, grammar, grammar

Despite the fact that I will never feel for Ross when it comes to being a Paleontologist, I understand him when he gets angry at the misuse of “your” and “you’re.”

3. The little things

This one is especially true. Ross always gets upset when little things happen, and I feel as though we all do the same. I’d be upset if someone threw my sandwich away too, Ross.

4. Always getting made fun of.

Ross was always the one that the group picked on the most. Mainly because he made it easy for them to make fun of him, thus, I totally relate on so many levels.

5. Always lost/confused.

Yeah, this one goes without much explanation.

6. When things don't go a certain way.

It is hard to come to terms with the fact that sometimes things don’t work out the way I plan them, and apparently Ross has the same issues. Always be wary of having too good of a time, life will most likely step in and mess that up, it seems.

7. Never being understood

Since Ross is so smart, the gang always has a hard time keeping up to pace with him, especially when he does things like this. Relatable.

8. “We were on a break!”

Probably the most iconic Ross quote since he yelled it in everyone’s faces any time his relationship with Rachel was brought up. All though this is not as relatable for everyone, I personally want to yell it in my professor’s faces after a break from school (only figuratively).

You keep doing you, Ross. We'll be over here laughing at you while also feeling your pain.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
