College isn't always fun and games. Sometimes it can be stressful and can put a person in a bit of a funk. In the beloved television show "SpongeBob SquarePants," Squidward Tentacles has always been seemingly portrayed as a pessimistic, angry creature who never seemed to be in a good mood. However, as I have grown older, I have began to realize how much college students can actually relate to him. Here are 11 ways that Squidward has highlighted our occasional feelings toward college.

1. Eating at the Dining Hall

"I bet they don't have--wow they have it! Canned bread!"

I

The food at the dining hall isn't always the best of meals that we have eaten. Many times it is the same variety of foods, with the same bland taste. So finding out that the dining hall has something different to eat for once, whether it be a new gourmet dish or another choice of bread to eat, can be quite thrilling.

2. When you witness other people getting way too excited about seeing their friends after every single break from school

"I didn't realize it was happy, hopping moron day."

Don't get me wrong, it is always good to be back at school after a nice long break at home. But when people start acting like they haven't seen their friends since the Stone Age after every single time they leave campus, even if it was for only three days, it's a little much.

3. Finals week

"Here, please hit me as hard as you can."

Finals week is always stressful. The long hours of studying, staying up extremely late, lack of sleep, and occasional crying can cause anybody to begin to act crazy.

4. Showing up to the first class of the semester after anticipating what the professor will be like until you realize--

"Oh no, he's hot!"

h

Just when you told yourself that you will try to focus on your studies this semester the professor turns out to be beautiful. How can one expect people to pay attention to the lesson when we have someone who is not only intelligent, but good looking standing in front of us and expecting us to learn something other than the color of their eyes.

5. When you are trying to go to bed early for once, but people decide that loud music would be a good idea to listen to next door

"How did I ever get surrounded by such loser neighbors?"

It always seems like the one weekend that you decide to catch up on your beauty sleep is the one weekend when your neighbors decide they want to throw a party. There is nothing worse than finally feeling as though you will be well rested for the next day and then loud screaming and loud music starts as you lay your head to your pillow.

6. When crossing the street to get to class and almost getting hit by a driver who is not paying attention

"Too bad that didn't kill me."

Excuse me sir, you are driving on a street near a college, therefore there will probably be college pedestrians walking across it quite often. Slow down and look where you are going. Isn't that common sense?

7.When people in class ask questions that have literally just been answered

What is annoying is that this often happens at the end of class, when people are trying to get out of there. Maybe if you weren't texting on your phone, or whispering to your friend, you would know that we just said the answer to what you are asking.

8. Attending morning classes

It

It has always baffled me how some people can look so put together when walking into their morning classes. Unfortunately, however, some of us are extremely tired and have just rolled out of bed before getting here. Then there's the few who seem as though they aren't even awake at all.

9.) Being your average, poor college student

Not having a job and attending college is not exactly a good combination. So when we spend money or lose money it feels as though the world is ending. After all, alcohol is quiteexpensive these days. Oh, and food is also somewhat of a necessity.

10.) When you're in the "talking" section of the library, but people equate it to a gymnasium

Okay, I understand this is the "louder" section of the library, but it is still a library. It does not mean that it is time to shout as loud as we can to our friends. While talking is allowed, people are still here to do work. Please respect that.

11.) Finally finishing a paper after working on it all night

The best feeling in the world is putting in the last finishing touches to a paper you have stayed up all night writing, because now you can sleep without worry or stress. The relief is quite satisfying.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
