Life After High School

It's Been 3 Years Since I Left...Things Are Definitely Not How I Expected It To Be.

I came from a small town- so small that our middle/high school was made up of three different town districts. The friends I made in elementary weren't necessarily my friends in middle school and my friends in middle school weren't necessarily my friends in high school. Elementary School, my friends consisted of the kids who only lived Williamstown, then once we moved into the middle school my friends consisted of kids from not just Williamstown but Altmar and Parish as well. Now that I think back on it, I find it kinda weird how all my friendships all turned out throughout my life thus far.The friends I made in sixth grade once I moved into the middle school-well they were my friends basically up until high school, then things started to change a little bit.

Just like the movies you see on tv- high school is full of drama and a bunch of cliques and those kids kinda stay inside those cliques. But unlike the movies you see on tv, APW was a school where everybody got along with everybody for the most part. You'd see the nerdy kids at every football game or basketball game, you saw the athletic kids doing musicals and joining the marching band, and you saw almost everyone in an art or music class just to relax and get out of doing actual homework.

The first three years of high school weren't really that important to me. Senior year was the year where I felt like everything truly mattered. I went to my first APW football game (actually I went to every home game), I went to my first semi-formal, I joined the marching band, joined the band again, and went to my second prom. It was a year of memories and I had every intention to make sure senior year was the year where I didn't regret anything- I made such a good memorable year that I ended it by crossing the stage to get my diploma that I actually fell in front of everyone and it's on DVD for the entire class of 2014 (can't wait to talk about that at all the class reunions).

Since graduation, I can probably say I've really only managed to keep in contact with /hung out with maybe less than 10 of the kids I graduated with/were friends in high school with. Obviously, there's no one to truly blame because the phone works two ways and I could've done something if I wanted to make sure we kept in contact. I guess you can say that I'm kinda upset because I went to a small high school and I always thought everyone would stay somewhat close together because of how small and close the school was.

But I guess all I can say now is, shoutout to the high school friends that I don't talk to anymore, life got pretty crazy but we had a good run and our memories are priceless, I hope everything is going well."

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

The holiday season is full of stress, debt, and forced conversation. While we rush through the month of December, it's important to take a step back and enjoy the moments before they're gone. I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
